Someone Buy This Please

It's BACK.

Known to my loyal Benzitos as The One That Got Away, this 40,000-mile 500 Benz has miraculously returned to SF Craigslist, and it is veritably bursting with must-be-boughtness.

Let's run down the list here.

1. Ridiculously low miles—27,000 fewer than my car had when I bought it for $500 more.

2. The sellers own a Mercedes/BMW repair shop.

3. They have service records for the past four years.

4. "VEHICLE IS PERFECT."

Assuming this car is true to their description, it's an unbelievable deal. It's also the best example I've seen yet of the R129 SL's absurdly low resale values. The 1998 model year is arguably the one to have—final year of the four-valve M119 V8, same five-speed automatic as every R129 that followed—and here's potentially the finest specimen in the land...for Versa money.

If this were a 993, it would be at least $50k. I wouldn't be surprised to see $60k.

I could go on.

Someone please buy this car, and come show me how nice it is so I can hate you.
