Paternal Road Trip: LA to Big Sur to SD

So my dad came out last summer for an epic road trip that started in LA, meandered up to Big Sur via the road where James Dean and his Porsche met their demise, and ended up in San Diego, where, speaking of Porsches, my dad's friend Dave introduced us to his 997 Carrera S convertible and also taught us how to surf.

I'm going to let the photos do the talking on this one.

Have just finished surfing around your blog, checking out videos, photos, and script. Love what you're doing!!!! Fun to see you shooting baskets; the road trip with your mom and another with your dad were everything they talked about and more; and your trip to Puerto Rico was interesting and full of memories for me. You may or may not know that Patrick and I did a trip to Puerto Rico six years ago. We did some dog sitting for Lisa's college roommate who works for DEA and was living in PR at the time - 85 steps back from the beach (I counted). We loved PR, especially old San Juan.

I know nothing about cars but enjoyed imagining your involvement with them, and i picked up a bit of info, too!

And, on a more personal note...........congrats to you and Danielle on your recent engagement!!! We will be waiting to hear more details and future plans!! Hugs to your from a fellow Mainiac (via South Carolina). B

Great trip! The car, the weather, the scenery, sunny California from LA to Big Sur to San Diego and back to LA, long conversations, moments of quiet, from scaling cliffs, golf and surfing to fancy dining, friendly dining and something quick to hold us over, but always the top down - enjoying the sights, sounds and smells, along with the cheeriness of the sun and the peacefulness of starry skies - and always the Pacific, the beautiful, bold Pacific. Truly a father's dream. (I'm glad I was there!)
